Historical note: The German BMW R12 motorcycle was produced from 1935 to 1942, with over 36,000 units built in military and civilian variants. A sports version of the R12 set a speed record of 279.5 km/h, which stood for 14 years. Due to its high reliability and lower cost compared to specialized army motorcycles like the BMW R-75 and KS-750, the BMW R-12 became the most numerous motorcycle in the German army. It was used to transport ammunition, hot food, evacuate wounded soldiers, deliver messages, and go on reconnaissance missions. Additionally, the BMW R-12 was widely employed as a combat vehicle in specialized motorcycle units, with a machine gun mounted on the sidecar.
