Fowler Digit Counter Micrometer has a choice of measuring range from 0 to 6 inches with a flat anvil/spindle pair with a 0.256-inch diameter measuring face for general purpose measuring. The digit counter reads to .001" while the vernier scale on the sleeve reads to .0001". The positive locking nut on spindle locks measurements in place when required and the zero adjustment on the sleeve ensures accurate measurements. The ratchet-stop thimble can be used independently of the friction thimble. It provides an audible sound and stops the spindle from turning when the spindle comes into contact with the workpiece, providing constant force for consistent measurements between operators. Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure distances. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometers: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers and are used to measure the length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometers are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometers measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. Fowler, an American company, manufactures premium inspection and measurement instruments like electronic indicators, calipers, bore gages, and micrometers. The company, founded in 1946, is headquartered in Canton, MA.

  • Micrometer: With flat anvil/spindle for general purpose measuring; microfine graduations and carbide-tipped measuring faces; 0.0001" graduations and ±0.00016" accuracy for precise readings
  • High Accuracy: Anvil and spindle are hardened and precision ground with microlap finish on tips; 0.256" diameter measuring faces, 0.00003" flatness, and 0.00005" parallelism on 0 to 1" micrometers for accurate measurements
  • Easy to Use: Quick, easy zero adjustment on the sleeve and positive locking nut on spindle; Ratchet stop thimble applies constant measuring force for repeatability between users
  • Satin Chrome Finish: On the thimble and sleeve to help reduce rust and glare, lapped spindle thread that provides smooth movement and extends product life; vernier scale with hammertone blue baked enamel frame and heat insulated frames
